The Museum Planetarium Gavea in Rio de Janeiro was founded with the aim of spreading the science of astronomy and develop cultural projects.

The Museum Planetarium Gavea is considered the most advanced in Latin America and promotes activities such as interactive experiments, telescopic observations, courses, conferences and exhibitions.

It is technically a double planetary which consists of two domes. The planetarium has a dome smaller Zeiss Spacemaster, the largest planetarium dome projection is a Carl Zeiss Model A car Universarium VIII.

The observation of the sky is through the large telescope on the roof and is open to the public from Tuesday to Friday, from 18:30 to 20:30, except on cloudy days and holidays. Admission free, but you must obtain an access code first few hours.
