Copacabana Beach Rio de Janeiro

Copacabana Beach is a borough situated in the south zone of Rio de Janeiro. It is one of the most famous places in Rio, and an excellent site for tourists to stay, along with Ipanema Beach.

Copacabana boasts 4 kilometres of beautiful pearly beaches, that stretch from Posto Dois (Princesa Isabel Avenue) to Posto Seis. Here, thousands of bathers enjoy the wonderful beaches and many expert sufers go after the perfect waves of its clean waters.

Copacabana beach is a little gem, no wonder that the millions of tourists who come to spend their holidays in Rio de Janeiro choose it as their benchmark.

The Copacabana promenade was designed in the 1930s by Roberto Burle Marx, and completed in 1970. Here, the majority of hotels, restaurants, bars and night clubs concentrate. It can be considered the very heart of the borough, with a number of activities throughout the day and an exciting night life.

Copacabana beach also plays host to the New Years celebration, and is the official venue of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
